Meet Rosario, the woman behind each of our handwoven baskets in Oaxaca, Mexico. I met her while I was there during an artist residency in 2021. Each bag is completely hand-woven using natural palm straw fibers, which are also hand-picked and dyed by Rosario, her family and community team of artisans.
This project is done in collaboration with Hacer Común, an inclusive design center and social impact project in the Oaxacan community of Zimatlán. It seeks to promote the values and growth of the community by connecting local artisans who work collaboratively to develop everyday objects that revalue tradition.
